SAVES Story

I created this studio because as someone who has struggled with my mental health, has had arts education trauma and has had to find my own way as a black woman artist, I wanted to create a place where everyone is welcome, where uniqueness is celebrated and where learning can feel safe.

SAVEStudio teaches artists concrete acting, vocal and performance skills that are repeatable and sustainable.

One of my philosophies as a teacher is to individualize training based on who each student is and what their needs are as an artist.

I use my experience with classical vocal technique, the Meisner Technique, Linklater, Clown, Lucid Body and Grotowski technique to allow my students to discover their wholeness as artists.

I aim to create a space where each person can feel brave enough to be open, curious and spontaneous. I encourage each student to explore their full selves as humans first, then as an artist.

I have been teaching in person for over 15 years and online for 7 years. My experience teaching online has helped me to make learning just as active and helpful as it is in person.

I am so grateful to work with so many students who are neurodiverse, have disabilities, are non-binary, trans or struggle with their mental health. I trained as a teacher at The Smithsonian and Arena Stage where I helped to implement play and emotional literacy in classrooms. I also helped to faciliate professional development workshops for teachers.

That experience has helped me to hone my skills to teach artists of ALL ages, backgrounds, history and levels.
